Desert Cities Beer Guide — Kip’s Quaff
Kip Allen has been a serious beer aficionado for more than 25 years. A dedicated homebrewer who grinds his own grain, his beer has won numerous at club competitions, county fairs and the Great American Beer Fest, where he won a Bronze Award for his India Pale Ale.
In 1990, he tested with the Beer Judge Certification Program, an organization jointly established by the American Home Brewers Association and the Home Wine and Beer Trade Association, to establish standardized competition rules and judging standards. He is one of only 2,500 people nationwide authorized to judge in BJCP-sanctioned beer competitions.
Kip will review various beers available locally, judging them to BJCP standards. His reviews will include a history of the beer variety and brewery, judging criteria and recommended food pairing.
