Plaza Cafe Restaurant, Sante Fe

Our first delightful dining experience was at the Plaza Restaurant in downtown Santa Fe. Just off of the Plaza and Santa Fe the Plaza Restaurants has been serving locals and tourists since 1918. Within a three block radius of the Plaza Restaurant are dozens of small and large shops selling clothing, leather goods, pottery, kitchen ware and jewelry great. It is across the street form te Palace of the Governor?s and its famous "porch" where Native American artisans sell their fine art, pottery and jewelry. Within two blocks are three of the best museums in Santa Fe. Owned and operated by the Razato Family the Plaza Restaurant serves predominantly southwestern fare. We had visited the Plaza Restaurant several years ago and remembered its delicious foods and wanted to re-experience what we had enjoyed on our prior visit. We were not disappointed. The food was still excellent, the service was friendly quick and efficient. The management friendly and the decor classic. Since the Plaza Restaurant is right off of a main shopping area in the Plaza of Santa Fe it is easy to get to and a perfect place to lunch or dine early while shopping or after a day of shopping. The Plaza Restaurant is open daily 7 am to 9 pm daily. All major credit cards are accepted.

Our next restaurant was the Compound, Sante Fe. Originally started in the 1960's and taken over by Chef Mark Kiffin in the 2000, the Compound has become a well known and well visited restaurant by discerning dinners. The compound is surrounded by many fine art galleries and shops where you can find local artists as well as Native American pottery, jewelry, blankets and other objects of art. Originally we planned to visit the Compound for dinner but because of the snow and wet roads decided to have lunch there an were not at all disappointed. In fact, we would likely have missed it?s rustic setting, the beautiful pathways and trees that surround it had we come after dark. The menu at the Compound is a combination of southwestern, Mexican, Spanish and Continental. A fusion of tastes, flavors and colors. Everything we ate was perfect. We enjoyed our meal and the wait staff and management were friendly and helpful. When you visit Santa Fe the Compound is a must. Lunch served Monday through Saturday, noon to 2 p.m. Dinner is served nightly from 6 pm. No personal checks are accepted. American Express, Visa and Master Card are accepted. Patio seating and private dining spaces are available.

Coyote Cafe, Sante Fe

Our third dining experience we saved for New Years Eve. The Coyote Cafe is located in downtown Santa Fe and is surrounded by many shops and places of interest. Long considered to be one of the very finest restaurants in Santa Fe we were not at all disappointed. The Coyote Caf? was originally opened in 1987 by Chef and Owner Mark Miller. Chef Miller is acknowledged as one of the founders of American regional cuisine. We were allowed to photograph and talk with the staff thanks to Manager Tori Mendes. The ambiance is one of relaxed elegance, the food is a fusion of southwestern dishes, Mexican, Italian and Novelle. The Coyote Caf? has an open kitchen so it is easy to see everything being made and the close attention the chefs pay to each and every dish. While I was only slightly disappointed because I had especially wanted to try their World Famous Cowboy Cut Steak which was not Available on this special evening, this was soon made up for by the great meal Lisa and I shared. Lunch is served Monday through Friday from 11am to 2 pm. Dinner is served daily from 5 pm to 10 pm. All major credit cards are accepted.
