Active ImageSalt Lake City, Utah
June 12 through 16, 2008

Over the weekend of June 12 through 16, 2008 we traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah. This now lush desert area was settled in 1847 by Brigham Young and a stalwart group of Mormon pioneers. While visiting this picturesque city I did pause to reflect about the fact of how much change has occurred since then. It is likely none of these original settlers would recognize the area now.

Sample Image While the original settlers struggled to build homes, communities, plant and raise crops and travel along dirt roads we now have a considerably easier time of it. We stayed at a comfortable hotel and we dined at three of the nicest and tastiest restaurants in Salt Lake City.

Active ImageIf you are planning to visit Salt Lake City and we highly recommend it you especially if you have any amount of wanderlust in your bones. We offer the following articles as a guide to increase your  enjoyment of your stay in Salt Lake City.

Active Image While in Salt Lake City, we visited the great Mormon Temple and Downtown Salt Lake City. We spent a relaxing and enjoyable day at Heritage Park Village, the site that commemorates when Brigham Young and his hardy band of pioneers entered into the Salt Lake Valley. It is near that area that legend has it he stopped their wagon train and was reported to have said, “This is the right place!”

The Garden Restaurant, which is in Temple Square and sits atop the 10th floor of the old Hotel Utah and turn of the 19th Century landmark, The Market Street Grill, another local gathering spot, known for its sea food and prime rib, and last but certainly not least, the modern and chic Metropolitan Restaurant known for its excellent sumptuous food creations.
