“Fine dining, at half the price of other dinner houses in the valley”

01-SidewinderExterior-3BSmall.jpg GrillThe Sidewinder Grill has been in Desert Hot Springs for more than 15 years, yet other than its many regulars few people are really aware of the fine food, great quality and low prices that it offers for dinner.

Like many people we have stopped at the Sidewinder Grill to enjoy one of their great breakfasts or lunches. Until relatively recently we were completely unaware of the transformation from “coffee shop local restaurant” to fine dining house that takes place at sunset. Like Superman popping into the phone booth, Sidewinder transforms its menu from coffee shop serving dozens of tasty treats to “Fine Dining, Dinner House” with an entirely different dinner menu with many luscious specials.

Sidewinder11-30-06-044-1ASmall.jpgSidewinder Grill is a family affair. Owned and operated by Angelo and Rula Avramidis, Sidewinder Grill will soon to be taken over by their restauranteur son, Dimitri Avramidis. For more than 15 years Angelo has been the Chief Chef of Sidewinder. Angelo has been in the restaurant business for more than 22 years. He has owned and operated more than 11 restaurants from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. He is a graduate of the Oregon Culinary School where he learned his business as Chef and restauranteur. Angelo came to DHS in 1990 ostensibly to retire but noticing the restaurant space where Sidewinder stands was available he was seduced into yet another restaurant adventure. One of the nicest features other than its great food are the hundreds of historical photographs of the Coachella Valley and Desert Hot Springs. If you have even a bit of interest in the past you will love Sidewinders. It is hard not to just move from booth to booth looking at history and enjoying the many views of what was. A landmark in DHS Sidewinder is often visited by celebrates and patrons from all over the Coachella Valley who have come to know its delicious food, ample portions and low prices.
